...well, as it turns out, I’ve had
several run-ins with other branches of the adult industry before settling down
on webcams and clips4sale. I’ve always been very very enthusiastic about all
things erotic, so you could say this kind of job is a perfect match for me.
It was several years ago that I first encountered webcamming, and at first I was doubtful. I thought it would expose me too much, much the same way I thought doing porn would when that option first entered my world. I was afraid of being judged negatively by my friends and acquaintances, but with cam I was also afraid of the anonymity of online interactions, and how they tend to bring out the darker side in some people – wow, that didn’t sound star-warsy at all :)
I’m trying to recall now what exactly made me try myself on webcams after all, but I’m not sure. But whatever helped me make up my mind, but I know that finding online communities of industry workers helped me stay. It’s amazing that when you take the time to explore something, how quickly you’ll become attached to it – at least that’s the way with me. And it’s great because while I an indie camgirl doesn’t have co-workers in the classical sense, there is a large and friendly community of adult industry workers online, so one doesn’t get isolated working from home. I guess it’s the same for other self-employed people, videographers, photographers and the like.
I consider myself fortunate, because I had learned English before, so the language was not a problem in working in an industry where most of the customers are speaking English.
The girls from the net also brought clips4sale and the making of fetish videos to my attention. At first I considered this just something on the side, but after a while I’ve found that I very much looked forward to making these clips. The first ones were of course rubbish, at least with everything I’ve learned since. But after a while, I think I started to understand at least some of the multitude of colourful fetishes.
I think these short, amateur clips are very important, because for a lot of people they are the only source of material related to their favourite taboos. The big budget productions of the industry are focusing mostly on what has a broad audience, and even when producing fetish content, they all too often fall back on a few basic mannerisms. I have my own fetishes – maybe in sometime I’ll tell you about them :) – and I find it hard to find any material about it that I really like. Amateur fetish content makers like me try to cater to the more nuanced tastes of a lot fewer people. With the risk of sounding a bit full of myself, I think it’s like big budget Hollywood blockbusters versus artistic indie films.
